On the occasion of la Nuit Blanche (the White Night) on Saturday 1 October, the Eiffel Tower unveils a monumental 700m2 fresco painted on the ground just in front of the building by Cleon Peterson, the American street artist.
Admire romantic dancers from the first floor of the Eiffel Tower
The centre of the area in front of the Eiffel tower shows the outline of an immense and intriguing black and white mandala. And it’s only when you look down through the glass floor of the Eiffel tower, 57 metres above ground, that you can make sense of the work of art which stretches out below you under the central void of the Tower – a romantic dance with shamanist overtones showcasing the scene where two lovers come together again.
The fresco takes on a hypnotic depth of meaning: the visitors, standing away from it and yet plunged into the heart of the work of art thanks to the effect of perspective are able to enjoy a unique experience.

About Cleon Peterson
Born in 1973, Los Angeles based Cleon Peterson has transposed his studio practice to a public art practice by painting several murals throughout the world. His contrasting colored frescoes often depict chaos and impulsive behavior leading to violent clashes. The artist draws inspiration from current world affairs, underground culture and his youth spent in the streets.

About La Nuit Blanche (the White Night)
The Paris City Council has been organising La Nuit Blanche every first Saturday in October since 2002. The aim is to provide the people of the city and its visitors with a major event, both popular and celebratory, focused on installing works of art in public areas or in iconic Parisian buildings. Every year, several million people visit this free event, open to everybody. This event is not exclusive to Paris as today, more than 25 cities across the world organise similar events.
About la Société d’Exploitation de la tour Eiffel (SETE)
On 1 January 2006, the City of Paris entrusted the operation and management of the Eiffel Tower to SETE (Société d’Exploitation de la tour Eiffel) as a ten-year delegation of a public service. SETE is a semi-public company of which the City of Paris holds 60% of the capital. Its President is Bernard Gaudillère, a Paris Councillor and its CEO is Anne Yannic. SETE employs 300 people and its turnover for the year 2014 was 81.8 million euros.
