The Diamond Light - An exceptional lamp to bring the Eiffel Tower’s sparkle into your home

The Eiffel Tower has unveiled a new version of its iconic Diamond of Light, created in collaboration with LxA (Lagardère Travel Retail France and Arteum). For the first time, genuine lightbulbs from the Iron Lady's sparkling light show have been transformed into designer light fittings by the Paris-based A+A Cooren Design Studio. Available in an exclusive, limited edition of 500 pieces, these exceptional items offer a rare opportunity to bring home a fragment of the Eiffel Tower.

Genuine Eiffel Tower lightbulbs: glamorous objects and witnesses to the monument's life
Every evening, 365 days a year, 20,000 lightbulbs make the Eiffel Tower sparkle during the first five minutes of every hour. A light show that never ceases to delight Parisians and visitors from around the world who come to admire this dazzling display.
To preserve this iconic display – created by the renowned lighting designer Pierre Bideau – nearly 400 light fittings are replaced each year.
Some of these lightbulbs are now being repurposed to create the Diamonds of Light.

Each one has lived its own story on the Iron Lady: some still bear faint traces of paint or marks left by the years and the major events that have marked the monument's life.  These distinctive characteristics give each piece its unique, authentic character.

A design reimagined by the A+A Cooren Design Studio
To transform this heritage piece into a truly exceptional object, the Eiffel Tower brand entrusted its reinterpretation to LxA and, more specifically, to the A+A Cooren Design Studio.
Aki and Arnaud Cooren adopted an approach that is both contemporary and respectful of the heritage embodied in these fragments of the Eiffel Tower – steeped in history and memory.
They have designed an object that incorporates a reference to the Tower's nocturnal sparkle, one of its most iconic hallmarks.
The lighting mechanism has been adapted to suit an interior object: the luminous intensity used on the Eiffel Tower has been adjusted to create a softer, warmer light. The lamp's design draws inspiration from the monument's architecture: the base, designed by the A+A Cooren Studio, evokes the top of the Eiffel Tower and incorporates cross-bracing that echoes its intricate metal latticework, while the upper section – derived from the original lighting fixture and bearing the patina of time – has been preserved as-is.

Aki and Arnaud Cooren also drew inspiration from the plans published by Gustave Eiffel in his work La Tour de 300 mètres (The 984-foot Tower). To lend it an even more contemporary feel, the Diamond of Light's color echoes the shade now worn by the monument itself: golden brown.

Bringing the Eiffel Tower’s sparkle into your home
Beyond its heritage dimension, the Diamond of Light is also a fully functional lamp. Three lighting modes are available, each inspired by the monument’s different illuminations: a steady glow evoking the Tower's golden hue; a mode that adds a five-minute sparkle sequence every hour, just as on the monument; and finally, a dedicated sparkling mode.

Produced in only 500 individually numbered pieces, each comes with a certificate of authenticity attesting to its origin. It is presented in an elegant wooden case, also designed by A+A Cooren Studio, reminiscent of the crates used to transport works of art – as though this fragment were leaving the past behind to begin a new story at the heart of a contemporary interior.

Available at the Eiffel Tower online store and at the monument
Available from July 8th at the Eiffel Tower online store, the Diamond of Light can be ordered and shipped worldwide. Visitors to the monument will also be able to find it in the store on the first floor.

Price: €990 incl. taxes, excluding postage.
